Review: Mario Basdescu Drying Cream

Until December 2012 i had not really heard anything about Mario Badescu. I definitely hadn't seen any of the products in person. On a whim i decided to order the Say Hello to Clear Collection from Beauty BayThe kit includes the Drying Cream (14ml), Drying Lotion (29ml) and Silver Powder (14ml).

In a nut shell, i love this product!

The Drying Cream is a beige thick cream with a clay mask type smell to it. It comes in small, travel friendly plastic jar. The Mario Badescu website describes the Drying Cream as "effective treatment to dry up small under the surface bumps and pimples. Just a few dabs smoothed on the erupted areas prevent pimples from getting larger and spreading out of control. Aloe rich cream conceals and heals erupted pimples."

This product pretty much does what they say it will.

It conceals scarring and blemishes a little due to the colour of the cream. Actually conceal isn't the right word, i'd say it blurs them therefore making them easier to cover.

The cream drys out the areas you put it on without over drying. I use this twice a day - morning and night - every single day and i don't find that it completely strips my skin of moisture even though it's winter (keep in mind my skin is combination/oily). It simply helps soothe and stop the spread of any acne that i have at the time. I started using this product and noticed a difference fairly quickly. You really only need a little bit of this product. What you see on my finger in the image below does one cheek. I do the same on the other cheek and if necessary the same again is split along both sides of my jaw line.

What this won't do is immediately help spot treat. It is not a spot treatment. That's where the Drying Lotion (which also comes in the kit). I'll have a review on this product later.

I do have one bone to pick with this product. The packaging. As i said this product comes in a travel friendly plastic jar - that's great. What you don't realise until you've been using the product is that the packaging makes it look like you get more product than you do. The product itself actually only takes up half the jar. Is that a big deal? Not really but it would be nice to reduce the size of the packaging by removing what's really unnecessary.

Have i convinced you to try this yet? If you get acne regularly, you should.

The Drying Cream can be purchased in store at Myer or Mecca Maxima. It can also be purchased from Mecca Cosmetica online. It is $22.50AUD both online ($10 shipping) and in store. As i said, it's also available on Beauty Bay where it is actually a little cheaper at $21.60AUD (with free shipping). Alternatively if you want to try the entire kit it is $54.00AUD on Beauty Bay.

One jar of Drying Cream lasts me 3 months roughly with twice daily use.
